An upcoming event in Canonsburg will be a meditation session taking advantage of ancient practices.
Everyone is invited to a Cacao Ceremony where they will follow guided meditation, set intentions, and enjoy a cup of cacao. Cacao seeds are what we know as cocoa beans, and are processed into cocoa butter, cocoa powder, and chocolate.
Ceremonies featuring cacao have been held for centuries, allowing people to relax and become more in tune with their feelings. In today’s culture, people have grown accustomed to existing in a sort of focused mental frenzy. The cacao ceremony helps participants find a balance between thought and emotion, and restore a state of inner peace and harmony, which is far more conducive to living a purposeful life.
The ceremony begins with a blessing of the cacao, honoring the role the plant has traditionally played in ceremonies world-wide. A short meditation focusing on the breath is next, and then participants will drink the cacao, focusing on its texture, taste, and the sensation of consuming the drink.
Another meditation follows, where the leader will guide participants into allowing the cacao assist in achieving deep introspection, spiritual insight, and emotional release. Anyone who likes may share their experience, and a ritual closes the circle.
The ceremony is scheduled for May 4 at Sacred Tones Studio, 117 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. When they design events like this, organizers may use flyer printing to create instruction sheets for participants.
