Brew and bratwurst at Canonsburg Bavarian Oktoberfest
Canonsburg’s Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest is set to celebrate its 21st year as one of the country’s largest German parties.
It is continually ranked as one of the top 10 Oktoberfests in the U.S., and is the 6th largest in the country, according to the Canonsburg website. More than 60,000 visitors come to the three-day festival every year.
The festival celebrates all things German – including beer and pretzels and bratwurst. However, there is also an American flavour to the event as well. The event website says there are a variety of ethnic foods and American favorites.
Pike Street and Central Avenue in downtown Canonsburg will be closed off to make way for the event.
Admission is free. There will be live music all weekend long on two separate stages. One stage will feature German music and entertainment and the other will feature local live acts performing rock, country and oldies. There is an amusement park and rides for the whole family.
The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Borough of Canonsburg organize the event. Every year they offer local businesses and organizations an opportunity to sponsor the festival. Committees for events like these use incentives such as using logos in banner printing and brochure printing.
The Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest takes place September 21, 22 and 23, 2019.
