5K event set for Canonsburg
Organizers are excited to announce that an upcoming race will be run in person in Canonsburg.
The 37th Annual Whiskey Rebellion 5K Race offers participants a choice – they can either run or walk the distance. Registration is open now in anticipation of holding an in-person race, but it is still possible changes will be made to the schedule, and organizers ask for participants’ understanding if it becomes necessary to modify the event. Registration will be completed via mail or online, since no in-person registration will be offered.
Participants will be placed in corrals according to their speed over the course, and they will need to estimate how long they think it will take them to finish the race, and include that in their registration. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for outdoor events like this.
All participants will receive a T-shirt, and water and goody bags that have been pre-packed for safety will be provided.
To help keep everyone safe, starts will be staggered, with corrals starting the event from 6:00 am until 7:10 am. The date of the race is July 3 at the Canon Mac Stadium, and local racers are urged to pick up their packets July 2. All the proceeds from the event will go to support the Canon-McMillan Cross Country Team. Masks will be required before and after the event, but not during the race.
