Participants are tasked with creating a short film within 66 hours, for a grand prize of $660. The finished products are screened for the public and the winner will have their film aired on KVCR, a local PBS affiliate.
The event also kicks off the college’s Wolverine Con International Student Film Festival. Other events as part of the festival include a Meet the Pros Mixer and Dinner, a Red Carpet and Opening Night Film, multiple nights of high school-submitted films, and screenings of all the nominated films before the final award ceremony and dinner. This year’s Wolverine Con also features a debate competition, a rap battle, and a ‘90s film retrospective with the college faculty.
The competition involves participants being assigned a genre or theme and creating a film based around that, which the college’s website says must also:
“…incorporate an element of Southern California’s Inland Empire.”
Film competitions like these often use poster printing for low-cost promotion, while brochure printing companies can help produce even programs.
The 66 Hour Film Competition is coming to the San Bernardino Valley College at 701 South Mountain Avenue on Tuesday, March 4 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The public event is being held in the library viewing room and tickets cost $10.
