San Bernardino to hold conference for undergraduate research

The San Bernardino campus of the University of California will host a conference where undergrads can share their research.

The Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR) is an event where college students can give presentations in a professional environment. Participants can choose from many research topics, such as social sciences, humanities, the arts, and natural sciences. The first SCCUR was held in 1993 at the California Institute of Technology. Binod Tiwari is the president of the SCCUR, and Jacqueline Trischman is the secretary.

Those who participate in the undergraduate research conference can choose to give an oral or poster presentation. Abstracts for the event can be submitted by all undergraduate students, whichever higher education institution they study at. High schoolers who have completed college-level activities and recent graduates may also submit abstracts. There will be workshops at the conference on topics like how to apply to graduate schools and find external fellowships.

The SCCUR will take place on Saturday, November 23 from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Presenters for the conference must register by November 10, costing $95, though discounts are available for those who apply by November 1. Spectators can pay $85 to register in advance or $95 for onsite tickets. Universities that organize similar conferences to this may use professional printing services to promote their events.
