San Bernardino families, no matter which holiday they will be celebrating during December, will be able to enjoy an upcoming free concert.
For the first time in several years, the San Bernardino Symphony will be presenting a holiday concert, which it has tagged ‘Home for the Holidays’. Maestro Frank Fetta will be conducting as part of the SBS’s 86th season.
Excerpts from holiday classics, such as Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘Festival of Carols’ by Anderson will be on the program. Also music from John William’s score from ‘Home Alone’ will be included. The evening’s soloists, mezzo soprano Nidoni Sinha, tenor Haqumai Sharpe, and baritone Ralf Cato will be singing ‘Ode to Joy’.
The audience will be invited to sing along with the 75-member choir as the orchestra plays selections from Mendelsohn’s ‘The Messiah’. Local printing services have no doubt been busily churning out the festive programs.
Carolers will greet attendees in front of the entrance of the theater, and those that feel so inclined are encouraged to sing along. Children are invited to come an hour early for a reading of Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas stories. One poem to be read will be ‘The Night Before Christmas’.
This event will be held at the California Theater for the Performing Arts this Saturday, December 20, from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
