Early next month, the Inland Dance Theatre will once again present Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet ‘The Nut Cracker’, to the delight of San Bernardino children of all ages.
This will be the 39th year that the ballet company has been performing this holiday tradition. With it usually being very popular, getting tickets as soon as possible is advised.
The show stars Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, and his battle with the Mouse King, Herr Drosselmeyer, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Melodies such as those from ‘Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy’ and ‘Waltz of the Flowers’ are always part of the holiday season.
This year’s performance will feature more than 80 cast members, comprised of dancers from across Southern California. As in the last 32 years, the ballet will be directed by Diane Amendnt. Choreography is the work of Evette DeMarco Swinson. Guests might want to take a camera for taking pictures for later conversion to poster printing.
The Nutcracker was written by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It was first presented in Russia as a two-act ballet in December 1891. San Francisco was actually the site of the U.S. premiere of a complete performance of the beloved classic back in December 1944. Since then, it has been repeated throughout the world.
The first performance will be Friday, December 5, at 8:00 pm at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in San Bernardino.
