OCTA looking for volunteers for citizens' committee

La Palma recently announced that the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is looking for people to serve on its Citizens Advisory Board (CAC). Members of the board serve for two years, during which time they are asked to focus on issues dealing with the transportation needs of Orange County.

During the two years of their terms, members find opportunities to allow input from the community, and serve as liaisons between the transportation authority and members of the public. They also recommend ways to get feedback on specific issues regarding transportation, and are expected to take part in round table discussions. Additionally, they are encouraged to comment on any problems and issues they find with the transportation system, and suggest possible solutions.

People interested in volunteering for the committee should demonstrate a knowledge of the county's transportation systems and issues, and have a history of community participation. They also need to be able to spend a minimum of 15 hours per year taking part in activities and OCTA meetings.

People who are interested in this opportunity need to have their applications to the OCTA by May 1. They can download the application from the La Palma city website, or contact Karina Deiz, either at kdiez@octa.net, or by calling (714) 560-5321.

In order to make information like this widely available, officials might work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for area residents.
