La Palma makes residents lives easier

For the second year in a row, La Palma is making things easier for its residents.

The City of La Palma is partnering with EDCO in a free Compost Distribution, Paper Shredding and E-Waste Collection event. Shredding will be available courtesy of two certified shredding trucks that will be onsite the entire time. Each household may have up to two bankers’ Boxes shredded. A banker’s box is 10” by 15” by 12” inches.

Electronics will be taken. All anyone has to do to dispose of answering machines, household batteries, cell phones, DVD players, VCRs, fax machines, printers, computer monitors, and/or televisions, is to bring them to the event. However, universal waste such as hazardous waste, paint or light bulbs won’t be accepted.

Free compost will be available, as long as supplies last, on a self-service basis. Anyone who wants compost will need to bring their own shovels, gloves, and Bags/cans. Compost is limited to three Bags/cans per vehicle, and anyone with an open trailer or truck must cover the containers with a tarp.

Only La Palma residents are eligible to take part in this event, and will be asked to provide some form of ID, like a driver’s license, to prove residency.

The event is October 5, from 8.00 am until 11.00 am, in the parking lot of the Walker Junior High School, 8132 Walker Street. Organizers of events like this will often work with printers, who use banner printing to create directional Signs.
