Nirvana tribute band to play near La Palma

Tribute bands are hailed as a way for new fans to hear bands that are no longer active, and long-time fans to enjoy memories. Truly exceptional tributes recreate a classic group’s material expertly, and one such band will appear near La Palma.

Nearvana is a tribute to Nirvana, the legendary group fronted by Kurt Cobain. Cobain and Krist Novoselic founded Nirvana in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington, and found mainstream success with their monster hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Although Nirvana disbanded after Cobain’s death in 1994, their music has continued to delight fans, and they have sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. They have also received numerous awards including a Grammy and an American Music Award.

Living up to that legacy is not easy, but Nearvana has done it, and in fact, the tribute band has been sanctioned by three surviving members of Nirvana: Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl. Nearvana recreates the Nirvana experience as it was when the band’s popularity was at its height. The tribute band has the same sound and uses the same theatrics and outfits as the original group. Nearvana is Ron Foster, Andy Scher, and Ken Kopkin.

Nearvana will appear at the Totally 80’s Bar in Fullerton, a short distance from La Palma, on April 16. Poster printing can be used to create edgy advertising for events like this, and organizers might consider offering them for sale.
