Every year, the City of La Palma hosts activities to celebrate the holidays, and one of the most popular is the upcoming tree lighting.
This year’s ceremony will mark the 34th time the city has lit the tree, with the Community Activities and Beautification Committee hosting the event. In addition to the tree lighting, students from La Palma schools will give musical performances, which has also become a tradition.
Rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive before the Tree Lighting, which will give those attending the event a chance to talk to the magical couple, as well as the elves who are coming along to join in the fun.
In addition, there will be a station where everyone can write a letter to Santa, plus there will be time to enjoy arts and crafts. Banner printing can be used to provide decorations for outdoor events like this.
The ceremony is taking place during the annual Toys for Tots drive, which is a popular initiative of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. People are welcome to drop toys off from November 19 until December 10 at the La Palma Community Center or bring them to the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for December 1 at 5:30 pm. Santa’s Village, where the Clauses and their elves will greet visitors, will be open from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. If it rains, the event will be held December 8 instead.
