La Palma has new leadership

At its recent regular meeting, the La Palma City Council named new leaders to head the city.

The council named Michele Steggell to the office of Mayor, with Debbie Baker to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the year 2022. Mayor Steggell has served La Palma in several capacities. She was elected to the City Council in 2014, and in 2017, served as the city’s mayor. She was re-elected to the office in 2018.

Mayor Steggell said she was honored and grateful for the chance to serve as mayor in 2022. She added:

“I am excited about this upcoming year and look forward to accomplishing great things for our City.”

For her part, the new Mayor Pro Tem, Debbie Baker, said she was glad to have the opportunity to work closely with Mayor Steggell, who she added will:

“. . . continue to make La Palma one of the best places to live.”

Baker was first elected to the City Council in November 2020. Officials in situations like this can turn to flyer printing to create a mailer for locals, announcing the news.

La Palma lies in northwest Orange County, and was incorporated in 1955 as “Dairyland.” Money Magazine ranked La Palma as one of “America’s Best Places to Live” in 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2015. The small community has fewer than 20,000 residents who support about 350 businesses, both commercial and industrial.
