Like many other communities, La Palma gets into the holiday spirit by lighting a Christmas tree. At this year’s La Palma’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, singers from local schools will provide the music, and members of the community are invited to sing along with familiar carols.
Before the official tree lighting, attendees will have the opportunity to work on holiday craft projects, jot down a letter for Santa Claus, or have their picture taken with the Jolly Old Elf himself. The highlight of the evening will be the lighting of the community’s Christmas tree.
People who are coming to light the tree are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to give to the Toys for Tots program, an annual toy drive hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Toys will be collected until December 16. Unfortunately, if it rains, the ceremony will be called off.
The city thanked EDCO Park Disposal and Rosendin Electric for sponsoring the event, which is scheduled for December 7 at the Central Park Amphitheater on Walker Street, where visits with Santa and craft activities will take place from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm, with the ceremony running from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
Ceremonies like this can be enhanced if organizers display Banners, which add a festive look to an event, particularly those held outdoors, where Banners move in the breeze.
