The La Palma City Council recently awarded a 30-year contract to Foster Interstate Media, which will erect two double-sided, digital billboards in the city.
One sign is to be built at 6907 Marlin Circle, a location that is close to the billboard on Orangethorpe Avenue that was approved last March. Both will likely be operating by Spring 2017, and are expected to generate revenue for the city in the amount of $204,000 annually.
The revenue from the billboards will be combined with the $1.5m raised by an increase of one cent in the sales tax to help plug gaps in the budget. Laurie Murray, the La Palma city manager, said the community has taken many steps in the past several years to achieve financial stability as well as fiscal solvency. She reiterated that La Palma officials will work hard to retain the trust of the residents who approved the tax increase.
The billboards will be built and operated by Foster Interstate Media, and construction should take less than three weeks. The billboard on Orangethorpe will tower 90 feet, while the Marlin billboard will stand 94 feet tall. The display areas will not exceed 20-by-60 feet, and will be used to display commercials as well as announcing events in the city, updates on water conservation, and other city matters.
Municipalities like this can benefit by working with a flyer printing company, which can create mailers for city residents, explaining local projects and their benefits.
