Mesa to hear musical instruments from Australia

Masters of the traditional Australian didgeridoo, Rob Thomas and Tanya Gerard, will soon be presenting an evening of music both ancient and new.

A didgeridoo is a long hollowed out tree trunk that is played as a woodwind instrument. It has been part of the Australian musical scene for over 1,500 years.

Thomas and Gerard are two of the founding members of Inlakesh. which a group of didgeridoo virtuosos who recreate tribal sounds of Australia’s ancient past and combine that with modern-tribal ambience. Since 1990, the group has been bringing the low-pitched tones of the didgeridoo to fans around the world. The result will be a mix of organic sound effects, smooth soundscapes, and fast-paced rhythms.

For anyone interested in owning a didgeridoo and learning to play one, Inlakesh has many different lengths and types of them for sale, along with tutorials. Those who are interested may want to ask the duo for Flyers or Brochures.

Gerard and Thomas go to libraries and schools promoting unity, cultural tolerance, environmental awareness, respect, and kindness. They will surely incorporate some of this in their presentation.

Their concert will be at the Mesa Main Library, 64 E. 1st St, Mesa in the Activity Room (200) on July 28th from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm.
