Little River Band to make a local splash

Mesa music lovers looking for an afternoon of musical are in luck, because the Australian group Little River Band will be performing songs both old and new later this month.

LRB had several hits on the radio during the 1970 and ‘80s, and continue to tour and perform to this day, entertaining crowds with soulful renditions of songs that are a mix of country and pop.

The Little River Band was formed in 1975, with members from various parts of Melbourne. The name came, the band has claimed, after the group noticed a road sign as they were traveling to Geelong, which read ‘Little River 10km’.

The band enjoyed commercial success for several years, selling more than 25 million records and including 13 hits on the U.S. Top 40 Billboard list. Those who listened to the band in its heyday may remember tunes like ‘Help Is On The Way’, ‘Happy Anniversary’, ‘Take It Easy On Me’, ‘Lonesome Loser’, ‘Cool Change’, and ‘It’s A Long Way There’. Those planning to attend may wish to bring cameras for picture taking, and then conversion to poster printing later on.

The band will be performing Thursday, February 19th at the Good Life RV resort, 3403 E Main Street, Mesa. Admission will cost $40, $45, or $55 depending on seating. The venue is handicap accessible.
