Mesa Arts Center announces preseason events

During November, Mesa Arts Center will have events leading up to the 2024 Christmas season.

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Bright Star will be shown 13 times from November 1st through the 17th at the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse. Set in the '20s and 40's American South, the tale of redemption and love, has Alice Murphy setting out on a journey of self-discovery.

On Tuesday, November 19th the Ikeda Theater will present Encanto: The Sing-along Film Concert. Guests are invited to come dressed as characters in the Disney movie and join in singing all the songs from the film Encanto along with a live band, Banda de la Casita. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm.

November 23rd at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse will feature a Southwest Shakespeare Company Christmas Carol for Two Actors, the retelling of Charles Dicken's classic told in 75 minutes.

The Man Who Killed Santa Claus, a true story of failure and triumph in Downtown Mesa in 1932, will be featured at 4:00 pm before Downtown Mesa's Merry Mainstreet Christmas Tree lighting and again afterward at 7:30 pm in the Piper Repertory Theater on November 29th. The production will be recorded and used in a future its Always Cool in Meda podcast.
