To celebrate Lunar New Year, the area’s annual Asian Festival will be returning to Mesa in mid-January. Over 35,000 guests are expected to attend the two-day event.
Attendees may enjoy cultural performances, arts, crafts, food from food trucks, and Flow Arts. (Flow arts is a term used to describe a state of awareness called Flow in which object manipulation, juggling and dance are used to create present-moment awareness. This may include hula hoop, fan dance, juggling, yoga, belly dance, martial arts, and Poi & Staff spinning.) Hands-on activities will be available for families and children. Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional clothing.
Many Stationery printers often use pictures of people wearing colorful traditional clothing at events like this for their international notecard sets.
The festival will have Master Ong, a world-renowned human Flo Art master from Malaysia and Mathew Ngau, an indigenous Cultural guide from Borneo-who will give performances of melodies and sounds of the Sape, a musical instrument with one string for the melody and other strings (usually three to six) used as rhythmic drones.
Human Flo Arts, Rainforest Workshops and cultural performances will take place from noon to 7:00 pm.
Asian Festival 2024 will be January 12th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on the 13th from noon to 8:00 pm at Mesa Community College, 1833 West Southern Avenue. General admission will be free. Get a Free Quote for Stationery
