Almost time for city to gear up for Celebrate Mesa

One event to celebrate Earth Day here in town is the upcoming Mesa Parks,Recreation and Community Facilities’ annual ‘Celebrate Mesa’.

Admission to this event will be free, and if this one is anything like the past years’ celebrations, large crowds can be expected.

The event will have performances, carnival rides, games, Earth Day displays, a Living Green Village, and Earth Day activities. Kids can enjoy a petting zoo, bounce houses and pirate ship rides. They can ride the Light Rail, Spincycle, and Chair Swings; rides will require a $5 wristband. A magic show for the little ones is also on the schedule. Children need to be on the lookout for Superheroes, and a Reptile Adventure Exhibit will open a little after noon.

Demonstrations and performances will be presented by local talent. One live music performance will be provided by the Freddie Duran Plan. There will be contests, giveaways, and free raffle prizes. Composting and recycling stations will be on-site in an effort to make this event at zero-waste event, and food trucks will be on hand with all their summer treats.

Any promotional Brochures will list Saturday, April 16 as the date of the event, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. The event will take place at Pioneer Park, 529 E. Main St., Mesa. Although admission will be free, guests will want to bring money for the ride wristbands, food, and other vendor items.
