Glen Allen sushi enthusiasts should note that the Publix Aprons Cooking School at Nuckols Place will hold the Sushi 101 class next month for those looking to learn the unique art of rolling sushi.
The Publix Aprons Cooking School is offered by the Publix retail chain as a way for communities across the southeast to engage in culinary experiences and trainings. There are locations in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia. The school offers cooking demonstrations, hands-on cooking workshops, couples’ cooking classes, family cooking classes, youth cooking classes, and virtual cooking lessons.
The Sushi 101 class will teach attendees the basics of making sushi, excluding dealing with raw fish. Participants will learn how to make expertly seasoned sushi rice, how to form perfect sushi rolls, discern the difference between sushi and nigiri, and utilize classic sushi ingredients like wasabi, nori, and pickled ginger.
