Glen Allen ready for super-sized Fourth

Henrico County is doubling up on its annual Fourth of July celebration to commemorate America’s 250th birthday, with Glen Allen included in the two-night event.

The “A Henrico Fourth” celebration will take place across two parks. Things will kick off in Henrico with live music by 5Starr and Plunky & Oneness. Visitors can explore a hot air balloon display provided by the Henrico Federal Credit Union, with food and drink available for purchase. The night will conclude with fireworks and a laser light show.

The party will continue in Glen Allen the following night. Live music will be provided by the Richmond Symphony with special guest Desiree Roots, playing patriotic classics. There will be costumed Revolutionary War interpreters to provide education about America’s founding 250 years ago. The finale will be a laser light show set to music.

Visitors are invited to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the show, along with water, sunscreen, and bug screen to deal with the summer. Municipalities often use methods like flyer printing and social media to help encourage participation in celebrations for the Fourth of July and other holidays.

“A Henrico Fourth” will take place at Dorey Park in Henrico on July 3, and Crump Park in Glen Allen on the 4th, both in the evening. Both events will have free admission and parking.
