Glen Allen walk to raise money for animals
The Locke A. Taylor Compassion Project will be holding its inaugural Walk n’ Wag 5k and Family Fun Event this October, raising money to support animal welfare in Glen Allen.
The event invites walkers to tackle a five-kilometer distance, for which they can be accompanied by leashed dogs. The scenic walk will begin and end at a festival area with food trucks and vendors aimed at families and animal lovers. Confirmed exhibitors include Apple Dog Daycare, Beagles & Bentleys Animal Rescue, and The Lucky Paw Foundations.
Walkers will pledge to raise money for the Locke A. Taylor Compassion Project, which assists pet owners in covering the costs of emergency medical and surgical procedures for their animals. Named after Henrico County veterinarian, the project dedicates its mission to him:
The finish line area will also include contests, a pet-friendly zone, and children’s activities, aiming to appeal to the whole family. Charity walks like this often use methods like banner printing and music to help create a celebratory atmosphere after completing the distance.
The first Locke A. Taylor Compassion Project Walk n’ Wag 5k & Family Fun Event will take place on the morning of October 18 at Crump Park in Glen Allen.
