The ASCV 5K Run, benefiting the Autism Society of Central Virginia, will be held in Glen Allen this May, looking to raise money and awareness for individuals and families dealing with autism.
The center of the event is a friendly five-kilometer run. Participants can also walk, stroll, or roll across the distance, or choose a one-mile option for younger or less mobile walkers. More competitive runners can sign up to be chip-timed, to see if they can beat a personal best. Top finishers in different groups will receive race awards. There will also be a virtual run option, for those who want to run or walk at a time and place of their choosing.
This year’s edition will see the Run return to the Innsbrook area, and feature an expanded Resource Fair featuring non-profit organizations and businesses aimed at supporting people with autism. This area will include the debut of the Safety Fair featuring first responders. A Kids Zone will feature a bounce slide, costumed characters, and other attractions, as well as a quiet area for those with sensory needs.
Runners and walkers will also be raising money for the ASCV’s yearly operations, which include programs ranging from summer camps to employment services. Run events like this often recognize donors and sponsors through leaderboard competitions, banner printing and other methods.
The 2026 ASCV 5K Run will take place on the morning of May 16 at Innsbrook North Shore Commons in Glen Allen.
