After 40 previous editions, the Lebanese Food Festival will once again be back in Glen Allen this September, looking to highlight Middle Eastern food from throughout Virginia.
The festival offers an opportunity to sample homemade versions of Lebanese delicacies ranging from shawarma to pies. There will be a menu featuring traditional dishes like grape leaves and falafel, desserts like zalabia and katayef, and bulk food to take home, including sampler Boxes. The festival menu will also include Lebanese beer, wine, and soda for drinks.
This year’s edition of the festival will shift to the fall, due to the temporary closure of Sadler Road. Festivities will also include music and dancing, with styles representing Arabic culture. The Mazloom Family musicians and youth groups have appeared at previous events hosted by the organizers.
There will be free offsite parking at the Markel Office Building, and there is a shuttle service running from the building to the festival grounds throughout the weekend. All shuttle riders will receive a free piece of baklava. The festival is hosted annually with the support of volunteers and sponsors. Food and cultural festivals like this often use methods like banner printing and social media shout-outs to recognize contributors.
