Glen Allen winery event to knit up some fun

Next month, James River Cellars Winery in Glen Allen will host the Chunky Blanket Workshop for anyone interested in some cozy winter crafts.

James River Cellars Winery is a local winery in Richmond started by Ray Lazarchic, who was originally looking for the perfect Virginia Gewürztraminer wine and utilized his 20 acres of farmland to make his own. Open to the public since 2001, James River Cellars Winery has been providing the community with beautiful wines and unique special events, such as the knitting workshop taking place in January.

The Chunky Blanket Workshop will teach attendees how to knit a 40x50-inch blanket using the finger knitting technique, which means a crochet hook is not needed. The workshop includes all materials, including four skeins of 100 percent polyester blanket yarn and printed instructions. There will also be hands-on guidance from expert knitters leading the class.

Attendees will enjoy a glass of wine included in the ticket price. No experience is necessary to participate in this workshop.

Organizers of workshops involving printed instructions may decide to visit local printing services to Print out these materials in bulk at an affordable price.

The knitting workshop is scheduled for January 20 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. James River Cellars Winery can be found at 11008 Washington Highway. The workshop fee is $90.
