Glen Allen to host triathlon festival
A daylong triathlon event comprising eight races for groups of varying age and experience will be held in Glen Allen in May.
The event attracts local athletes and participants from all over the United States. Athletes can participate without any qualifiers and must register before the event.
For young athletes in the 5 to 19 age group, this event provides a safe venue with a manmade lake and roadways closed to traffic. Those with little swimming experience can participate in the duathlon. This event will act as the Youth Mideast Regional Championship for the 7 to 15 age group.
Athletes 16 or older can participate in the USAT Age Group Draft-Legal World qualifier, where qualifying athletes can compete in the World Triathlon Age Group Sprint Championship in Bermuda.
Youths or Junior Elites in the 13 to 19 age group can participate in the USAT Youth/Junior Elite Cup. This draft-legal event is one of the five Youth/Junior Elite National Championships qualifying, with the Championships taking place in Ohio.
The event is organized by The Live Red Foundation, which offers free fitness programs encouraging young people to exercise. Event organizers and sponsors usually use flyer printing to promote such athletic events.
It will be held on May 2, and more information about the individual races, a detailed schedule, and options for registration are available on the Live Red website. Innsbrook, 4600 Cox Road will be the location of the race functions.
