Next month, the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) will hold the 2022 Family Engagement Conference in Glen Allen for parents, teachers, and community leaders.
The PEATC is the resource and information hub for Virginia families and professionals caring for children with special needs. The organization provides resources and encourages respectful collaboration between schools, parents, and professionals for the overall purpose of increasing student academic success.
The Family Engagement Conference will invite all families, professionals, educators, and community leaders to learn and share strategies to develop partnerships between schools and families with the goal of improving student engagement and achievement. The featured speakers will be Chiquita Seaborne, Family Engagement Specialist; Dr. Veleka S. Gatling, Director of Diversity Initiatives and Assistant Professor Old Dominion University; Leah Moore, Founder of Loving You Big; and Dr. Sheila Jackson, Director of Family and School Partnerships of Prince Georges County Schools.
For attendees living more than 60 miles away from the conference location, PEATC will have a limited selection of complimentary hotel rooms on a first come, first served basis.
Collaborative conferences frequently include networking opportunities for attendees, which a handy supply of Business Cards can help with.
The free conference will take place on July 16 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Virginia Crossing Hotel and Conference Center on 1000 Virginia Center Parkway will be the venue.
