Glen Allen prepares for slice of nostalgia

On The Air Radio Players (OTARP) and the County of Henrico are coming together to present Mayhem and Mirth, a show that will be recorded before a live studio audience.

Directed by Jana Frances-Fischer and Morgan Riley, the live show will have sound effects and voice actors, and includes two classic radio scripts.

OTARP is a group of actors, musical performers, and sound effect artists who are passionate about enacting old radio shows on stage. The group has been active for more than 20 years and works towards keeping the Golden Age of Radio alive on stage in Richmond.

The Golden Age of Radio was the period from the early 1920s to the 1950s, when the radio was the primary source of electronic home entertainment. OTARP celebrates this nostalgia and seeks to share the experience with others. The shows are performed live but are also recorded and uploaded to the OTARP recordings page. The shows are free to attend and open to everyone.

The show will be held live on June 22 and 23 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The venue is The Cultural Arts Center at 2880 Mountain Road, Glen Allen. More information about this event is available on the OTARP website, and questions can be directed to per22@henrico.us. Events like these are often publicized with the help of poster printing.
