Glen Allen’s Ravencon will be holding its 18th annual edition this April, bringing together fans and creators of science-fiction and fantasy.
The convention’s author guest of honour will be Hugo-winning novelist Alix E. Harrow, author of The Ten Thousand Doors of January. The event will also see the return of Creature Feature host and “RavenCon’s favorite vampire” Count Gore de Vol. Other featured authors include Steve Murphy, Dennis M. Myers, and Bishop O’Connell, alongside experts on costume-making, gaming, and real science. The convention will also feature musical performances with fantastical themes by artists Chuck Parker and Alexandra “The Platypus Princess” Higgins.
Fans can participate in activities like costume competitions, a live escape room, and tabletop board and roleplaying games. One of the major attraction will be the gathering of vendors offering sci-fi and fantasy goods, including an artisan marketplace and an artists’ alley. Vendors at conventions like this often offer special Promotional Products or sales to help celebrate the occasion. The convention was started by a group of fans in 2006 with the convention’s website describing their mission as:
“to provide a dynamic forum where fans and professionals can engage and explore their interests in literature, art, gaming, podcasting, costuming, science, and music. We work hard to provide an action-packed weekend filled with exciting activities for everyone!”
The 2025 edition of Ravencon will take place from April 25 to 27 at the Virginia Crossings Hotel by Hilton in Glen Allen.
