This May, the Autism Society of Central Virginia (ASCV) will hold the annual ASCV 5K & Family Fun Day in Glen Allen to support programs helping individuals with autism and their families.
The ASCV has been serving the local autism community for over 40 years, standing as the region’s leading sources of advocacy, education, and services for people with autism, their families, and support professionals. Founded 21 years ago, the ASCV 5K event has grown from a small affair to a large-scale event with over 1,200 participants. Funds raised from the event go towards supporting various enrichment and educational programs for people with autism.
The event will feature a competitive 5K run, as well as family-friendly activities and entertainment for spectators and guests. There will be a Kids’ Zone with face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, and princess characters. A Sensory Friendly Zone will also be set up for anyone needing a calm, quiet place to decompress. Refreshments will include offerings from various local food trucks.
Running events are often advertised through flyer distribution in areas such as community centers, gyms, and parks. These can be printed at local businesses offering special flyer printing services.
The 5K event will take place on Thursday, May 20 from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. It will be held at Crump Park on 3400 Mountain Road.
