Residents of Glen Allen are encouraged to turn out for 2019’s Great Strides walk, which will take place later this month.
Great Strides is one of America’s largest national fundraising events dedicated to raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF) and increase awareness about this genetic disease, which can make it difficult for people to breathe. The disease itself is rare and it affects people to varying degrees of seriousness.
Great Strides gives the public the perfect opportunity to help make a positive difference in the lives of people who are living with CF. People with the shared vision of giving everybody a chance at living a healthy life can work together towards finding a cure by taking part.
People can register for free, however they are encouraged to raise funds through sponsorships. The funds raised will be used to support innovative ideas and novel research that will aid with drug development and care. Almost every CF drug on the market was produced by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation thanks to funds raised by Great Strides, and the organizers start that this will continue until an affordable cure for CF is available worldwide.
The event takes place on May 18, starting at the North Shore Commons at 9:00 am. For such events, local Print shops are often hired to put out Flyers, as well as the Banners marking the routes.
