A staple of the Virginia hobby scene, the Pirate Dog Card and Collectible Show will be starting a new year of events in Glen Allen this January.
The one-day marketplace features vendors offering rare collectible items in a variety of hobbies and genres. Advertised items include collectible sports or game cards, comic Books, hobby supplies, and more. In addition to specialist vendors from throughout the state, attendees can meet other collectors and enthusiasts and trade items at a dedicated trading table. Vendors and sponsors at past editions have included Sports Collectors Digest, Lakeside Cards & Collectibles, and One Eyed Jacques. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Richmond SPCA. Admission will be free, with hourly door prizes.
Glen Allen has become a frequent home for Pirate Dog shows, with a February follow-up scheduled for a venue in the town. The organizers also host more specialized show throughout the Richmond metropolitan area, including an upcoming “PokéBash” in Asheville on January 4 dedicated to Pokémon cards and other collectibles, with a live DJ performing and other activities. Collectors shows like this often use flyer printing, social media and other grassroots marketing tools to help attract local hobbyists.
The Pirate Dog Card and Collectible Show will take place on January 11 at the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen.
