Holiday lights and history come to life in Ashland

Locals can enjoy the sights and learn about the history of Ashland this winter on a walking tour.

The tour features lights and decorations, and stops at a few select houses and locations to give history lessons.

This walk starts at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center. The center itself has over 100 years of history to it, and has a long tradition of public programs and events. There is limited street parking, but there are parking lots within a few blocks of the center. From the center, participants will walk about three-quarters of a mile, on sidewalks, to the Ashland Library.

Along the way, there will be designated stops where a brief history of the location will be given. The walk is expected to last about an hour, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

This event ends close to Downtown Ashland, which will also be decorated for the holidays at this point. This is a walking tour, so participants are advised to dress appropriately for chilly weather, and wear comfortable shoes for walking.

Events like this often benefit from flyer printing, as this allows the organizers to spread the word and give people accurate information on a physical reminder. The Lights Before Christmas tour is scheduled for tomorrow, December 15.
