The Ashland Theatre is hosting a concert by the rock group Copeland, featuring Jenny Dee.
Formed in 2001 in Lakeland, Florida, Copeland has maintained a steady output of music, including six albums. Their debut, 2003’s Beneath Medicine Tree cemented them as firmly in the rock genre.
However, as the years have worn on, the band has gotten increasingly more experimental. With their latest effort, 2016’s Ixora, they have taken the genre-mashing of everything from classical to electronic to create a brand new sound that can’t be compartmentalized into one category of music.
The Copeland concert will feature guest performer Jenny Dee, who is a folk and indie singer-songwriter out of San Diego.
The concert is being billed as an “intimate evening” with both Copeland and Jenny Dee, an appropriate characterization for the venue itself, which is a historic movie house that also hosts performance art shows. They play both first-run and classic movies, as well as special interactive screenings.
Following their stop in Ashland, both Copeland and Jenny Dee will continue the tour to stops in Nashville, Kentucky, multiple cities in Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.
