Celtic festival promises fun for all

The Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games are taking place over two days in the Ashland area.

There are set to be lots of activities for the general public to take part in during the festival. A British car and motorcycle show will be complemented by heavy athletics, such as the caber toss and hurling and rugby games. Lots of clans will be setting up information booths, including the Curries and Sinclairs.

Visitors can also enjoy whiskey tasting and a variety of Celtic foods. A vendor village will feature artisans and commercial business selling plenty of Celtic-related merchandise. Many competitions will be taking place in skills such as playing the fiddle, Highland dancing, harp, piping, and drumming.

Organizers, and those planning to exhibit at the festival, might approach local Print companies for advertising materials and display items such as Signs. People will probably come from all over the area, including Ashland, and products such as Flyers can be inserted in local newspapers to generate a buzz for the event.

The games will be held at the Richmond International Raceway from October 25 to 26 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is $15 in advance or $20 at the gate, and is $25 or $30 for both days. Call 804-356-1093 to obtain current information on planned activities during the event.
