Downtown Ashland is once again celebrating the spirit and history of locomotion with its annual Ashland Train Day event.
The festival is celebrating its 21st year and will include local vendors, children’s activities, a raffle for two Amtrack tickets, free parking, entertainment and shopping from local downtown businesses, food and drink, model trains and exhibits and more. The event is expected to draw in 20,000 people.
Other activities include a scavenger hunt, a display of trucks and heavy equipment from the fire department and other agencies and a performance by the Hanover Concert Band.
For those who really want to get into the spirit of Ashland Train Day, there are even T-Shirts available for pre-order online.
An appreciation of railroads and its connection to the town are at the center of the Ashland Train Day. That includes a railroad museum, historians and singing storytellers working to bring that history to life. In addition, more than a dozen freight trains and Amtrak passenger trains are set to pass through the heart of the festival.
Vendors at community festivals like this may want to offer promotional Pens to costumers as a way of staying in touch.
