Ashland to hold motorcycle ride and fundraiser

The Richmond Harley-Davidson in Ashland will be holding a fundraiser to support a local organization that represents motorcyclists.

The Old Country Ride & Pig Pic'n is an event where motorcycle riders can help raise funds for the Virginia Coalition of Motorcyclists (VCOM). The activity will begin with a 60-mile ride and end with a group meal at the Richmond Harley-Davidson. Those at the meal can enjoy live music provided by the Skipjack Band. The fundraiser will include door prizes, a raffle, and several vendors to browse. All of the food proceeds at the event will support VCOM.

VCOM is a committee that was created by Tom McGrath in 1992. The organization was formed to prevent the law from discriminating against motorcyclists. Since its formation, VCOM has helped motorcyclists earn the right to add handicap plates to their motorcycles and use flashing brake lights. Those who support the committee are given a lapel pin, reflective patch, and sticker. People can become basic supporters of VCOM by paying $25.

The fundraiser will be on Saturday, June 24. The motorcycle ride will be held between 10:00 am and noon, and the meal will take place from noon to 4:00 pm. There is no set cost to attend the event, though guests are asked to donate money in exchange for food. Companies that host activities like this may use banner printing to let more consumers know about their fundraisers.
