Ashland to celebrate the holidays with light display

Downtown Ashland will continue its holiday tradition of turning a section of the city into a Christmas light display.

The Light Up the Tracks Celebration is a six-week event where the businesses and homes alongside the train tracks are decorated with shiny lights. The decorations are also added to a section of Randolph-Macon College. A kickoff event will be held in November, where guests can enjoy seasonal activities like dressing up in illuminated costumes and watching a holiday show at Ashland’s Town Hall. People can also watch a tree lighting ceremony.

The event is organized by the Ashland Downtown Association. The community-run nonprofit group wants to help local businesses in the historic downtown area thrive. The organization is also a member of the Main Street America and the Virginia Main Street program. The association works on many projects, like improving the walkability of local sidewalks and using marketing initiatives to attract people to Downtown Ashland.

The kickoff to the celebration will start on November 18th and will last from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. There is no cost for guests to enjoy the community gathering. Public parking will be available in a few local venues, such as the Henry Clay Elementary School. Associations in charge of festivals like this may use Promotional Products as seasonal gifts to help them form bonds with the public.
