Ashland to bring back food fest

A southern-themed food fest will return to the Ashland location of the Center of the Universe Brewing Company in June.

The Southern Food Fest is a single-day experience where comfort food fans can dine at local food vendors and listen to live entertainment. Attendees can purchase fried chicken from Cluck N’ Roll, smoked barbecue from Jake’s Place, and soul food from Mama J’s. People can buy ice cream and flavored milk at the Farmview Creamery booth. Those old enough for alcohol can try the venue’s new Spill the Tea beverage, which is a lager infused with sweet tea.

Two bands will perform at the food festival. The first is James River Junction, a band known for playing a mix of Southern Rock-Americana and blues music. Daniel Glymph is the lead singer, and Michael Nadder is the group’s guitarist. The second is Out of Uniform, a group from Richmond that doesn’t stick to a single genre. Out of Uniform is a cover band that plays at local venues like Death Ridge Brewery and The Lilly Pad.

The food festival will be on June 8th from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. All ages can attend the event, and there is no cost to enter the festival. The venue’s arcade will be opened to the public during the fest. Breweries that host similar community activities may use Print shops to make advertisements like custom Banners and Flyers.
