Ashland law enforcement foundation to hold wellness event

The Virginia Law Enforcement (VALE) Foundation will organize a wellness fair for first responders in Ashland.

The 2nd Annual First Responder Wellness Fair is an event where local first responders can easily access helpful resources for improving their mental and physical wellness. There will be mental health presentations that teach attendees about dealing with stress and navigating through critical incidents. Event-goers can also interact with physical fitness experts who will give advice on helpful exercise routines and improving eating habits. The event will be held at Green Top Sporting Goods.

The VALE Foundation is an organization that is dedicated to honoring fallen officers and their families. The group was created in 2020 by Romaine Cheney, Keith Culver, Shanna Meeks, and Tyler Splan. The foundation aims to reduce self-harm in the police force by offering supportive services and helping Virginia students who are pursuing careers in criminal justice. People can apply to join VALE to vote on topics during meetings and apply for open staff positions.

The wellness fair will be held on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no cost to attend VALE’s resource fair, and guests do not need to be first responders to come to the event. Registration is also not required. Foundations that put together community wellness events like this may use flyer printing to advertise their fairs to more consumers.
