The Patrick Henry Half Marathon will be held in Ashland again this year for its 13th annual run. This run is set in and around Ashland, going through downtown as well as the countryside.
This is an official half-marathon, so will be 13.1 miles long. Participants will have three hours to finish the course, which will showcase the scenery and town of Ashland, including the Victorian homes for which it is known. The race is named after the area’s most well-known Colonial hero, Patrick Henry, most famous for his quote “give me liberty or give me death!”
The course begins next to Randolph Macon College, and continues in a large loop around to the finish line on Center Street. This race is part of the Grand Prix series of races from the Richmond Road Runners Club, and will begin at 7:00 am. Members of the club can pre-register for $55, or $60 day-of. Non-members are welcome to register as well; pre-registration is $60, or day-of is $65. Registration includes a short-sleeved shirt and finisher medal.
Events like this often use printing services, as each runner has a printed bib and the race packets usually come with other paper materials. The results from this race may be printed as well as being available online.
Packets may be picked up the day on the morning of the race, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, or can be collected the day before.
