The Hanover Vegetable Farm in Ashland has revamped a popular event, giving it the new title of the Shrimp, Maters, and Mugs Festival.
The festival will have live music, vendors, fireworks, shrimp, and the farm’s signature Hanover Tomatoes.
Attendees with the all-you-can-eat shrimp tickets will have access to the festival early. From 2:00 to 5:00 pm, there will be peel and eat shrimp, along with corn, hush puppies, barbeque, soda, and water, while supplies last.
In the afternoon, Brent Smalls will be performing, and Cobalt Whiskey will provide more music in the evening. There will also be juggling and magic performers. The fireworks show will start after dark at approximately 8:45 pm, and will last about 15 minutes.
Those interested can enter the tomato pie contest, with cash prizes to the top three winners. These tomato pies are a tradition at the Hanover farm.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs. Advanced tickets are currently available – all-you-can-eat shrimp tickets are $30, and only available before the event. Tickets for just the second half of the event with entry at 5:00 pm are $8 in advance or $12 at the door.
This event will take place next Saturday, June 22. Celebrations of this type often use banner printing to have a banner suspended over the entrance.
