All aboard in Ashland

All train enthusiasts will not want to miss the upcoming Ashland Main Street Association’s 13th annual Train Day. The family-oriented event will be free.

Two kiddie trains will be offering free rides to the youngsters, and there will be a bounce house too. The local library will have storytelling, music, and model railroad displays. Preschool activities will be available for children, while older children can enjoy sand art, and crafts such as making dream beads.

All children will want to sign Santa’s Train book, then enjoy Train Day ice cream and snow cones. Cinder and Tender Bear will be greeting everyone as they stroll around the venue.

Railroad-themed music will be on tap, such as Buckville Hootennany’s “Hey, You’re in Ashland”. Movies about trains will be showing all day. The history of the railroad will be depicted at the Visitor’s Center, and Amtrak will be distributing items, with promotional Pens and Drinkware likely to be among them.

Model railroads will be on display at many locations, including some at the Henry Clay Inn. Entertainment will include dancers at Off & On, while other performances will be running on the stage. After the scavenger hunt, ticket holders will get chances to win two round-trip train ride tickets. Food will be available for purchase and other vendors will be selling railroad-related items.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm along Main Street downtown Ashland.
