Hotel in downtown Tyler to be rebuilt

The city of Tyler and the Valencia Hotel Group will be collaborating on bringing the Blackstone Hotel to downtown Tyler.

This hotel will offer a full-service hotel experience. It will have 5,700 square feet of meeting space, 140 guest rooms, and amenities that will serve both the local community and visitors. New opportunities for celebrations, weddings, conferences and other gatherings are expected to be offered with this hotel in the heart of the city.

The original Blackstone Hotel opened in 1992 and was one of the most recognizable landmarks downtown. The hotel was then demolished in 1985. The new hotel will be near the site of the original hotel and will honor the legacy of the original hotel and help shape the future of downtown Tyler. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform visitors and residents of such projects in progress.

Mayor Don Warren said:

“This project reflects the confidence in our community and in the future of Downtown Tyler.”

He expressed his excitement that the vision of this hotel is coming to fruition.

An amount of $47.7 million is being invested by the Valencia Hotel Group in the new hotel. Leaders of the city have emphasized that the hotel will bring many opportunities and activities to the downtown and will help it to become a destination for events, businesses, visitors, and residents.
