Tyler Junior College (TJC) will be celebrating its centennial celebration of Founders Day next month.
There will be a celebration on the Quad outside Vaughan Library from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. People can stop by and get refreshments, a sweet treat, and a picture with the president of TJC, Dr. Juan E. Mejia.
There will also be a Founders Day Luncheon at the Willow Brook Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will feature lunch and a speaker, Astronaut Eileen Collins, a Pioneer from NASA, honoring the centennial of the college with reflections on the college’s 100 years of educational excellence in East Texas.
A Founders Day Employee Engagement and TJC Student event will be held at the TJC Central Campus where the employees and students of the college will have an opportunity to hear Astronaut Collins speak. This will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The last event of the day will be TJC Give Back Night at True Vine Brewing Co. This event will debut a special centennial brew with a TJC brand with live performances featuring a band from the college. This event will run from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with trivia featuring an East Texas theme from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
All Founders Day events will take place on Thursday September 17. Poster printing can be used to promote such special events throughout a college campus and the surrounding community.
