College in Tyler announces record enrollment

Tyler Junior College (TJC) enrolled 12,789 students this fall, reflecting a growth in continuing education, workforce, and academic programs.

This growth has taken place in several programs, including business, career and technical pathways, and health sciences. There has also been an expansion in flexible hybrid and online options.

Among the student body this year, close to two thirds of them are from East Texas. There is also an increase of nine percent in students who are 25 years of age and older, while there is a 14 percent increase in workforce programs. The average class size will remain at 18 students.

Local Print shops can help spread the news of such achievements with mailers, Flyers, and other printed materials.

President and CEO of TJC, Dr. Juan E. Mejia, said that this important milestone shows that those from East Texas continue to trust the college to deliver on all its promises, whether preparing students for transfer to the university of their choice, equipping students with workforce-ready credentials, or through special baccalaureate programs. He added that TJC offers world class opportunities for students to start, continue, and complete their journey in education.

Vice president for operations, Kimberly Lessner, said that this record enrollment shows both the confidence that students have in TJC and the commitment of the college to providing the support which they need.
