Apache Smiles will be held by the Dental Studies Department of Tyler Junior College (TJC) later this month.
This is a free dental clinic for children between the ages of four and eleven. It will take place on the Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Center on the central campus of TJC. Such special opportunities are often made known throughout a community with flyer printing and other printing services.
Professor of dental hygiene at TJC, Christina Horton, said that often parents are not able to take time off from work to bring their children to the dentist during the workday, and also children cannot afford to take time off from school without falling behind. Horton added that the goal of this clinic is to provide high-quality care efficiently and effectively for families in East Texas with busy schedules.
According to Horton, the clinic will also be an opportunity for certified dental assisting and dental hygiene students at TJC to sharpen their skills. She said that current students will treat the children while under the supervision of the faculty.
The clinic will offer routine preventive care as well as fluoride treatments, sealants, and evaluations. Space is limited so appointments are needed for the clinic.
The clinic will be from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm next Saturday, November 8.
