Science center in Tyler to host holiday dome shows

The Earth and Space Science Center at Tyler Junior College (TJC) will be hosting dome shows with a winter or holiday theme, as well as a range of other special events.

One of the dome shows is “Let it Snow”, with festive music classes and enhanced with special effects, laser imagery, and full dome scenery. “The Alien Who Stole Christmas” is a tour of the evening sky in the winter, as Santa Claus and a concerned alien explore the planets of the solar system.

“Season of Light” relates the cultural and historical religious rituals practiced during the time of winter solstice. This includes the practices of Jews and Christians, but also the Romans, Irish, Hopi, and Mexicans, among others. “Mountain Adventure: Out of Bounds” follows Olympian Torah Bright, free-skiing superstar Sammy Carlson, and backcountry legend Jeremy Jones as they journey through the longest chain of mountains in the world and encounter various kinds of wildlife and talk with environmentalists and scientists. Additional dome shows include “Mystery of the Christmas Star” and Messengers of Time and Space.” Each show takes place consecutively, starting at 11:00 am, through Saturday, January 3.

There will be a free outdoor Star Party where telescopes will be available for visitors to view the night sky on Saturday, December 6 from 8:00pm to 9:30 pm

Poster printing can be used to promote such unique shows and events throughout a college campus and the general community.
