Record student enrollment achieved at Tylers TJC

Tyler Junior College (TJC) experienced its largest student enrollment to date this fall, with a total of just over 13,000 students.

This represents an increase of 3% over last fall and comes just in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the college.

Close to 65% of the student body comes from East Texas, which reflects the strong connection held by the college to the communities it serves. More students than ever before continued their studies at TJC, which was an increase of 3.5% over last year. There was also an increase of 2% in the enrollment of students who are 25 years of age and older. Record enrollments were experienced by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and TJC West, the latter of which is the home to programs in the skilled trades.

CEO and President of TJC, Dr. Juan E. Mejia, said:

“Our students . . . come to us from different backgrounds, at different stages of life, and with different goals — some preparing to transfer to a university, some building skills for a new career, and others pursuing an education they may have once thought was out of reach.”

Describing the college’s workforce and academic programs as “world class,” Meija added that the college’s team genuinely cares about students’ success.

News of such achievements can be made known throughout a college community and a wider region with flyer printing.
