Peters school district hires new assistant principal from within
A new assistant principle for Bower Hill Elementary School, Jennifer Carfano, was recently hired by the Peters Township School District.
With little time to order her new business cards, Carfano’s term of office began on July 1. Many McMurray residents are likely acquainted with Ms. Carfano, a reading specialist and instructional support teacher for the last three years. In a press release from the district, Robert Garvey, the Bower Hill principle said:
"Over the past three years, Jennifer has become an indispensable member of the Bower Hill team. She already has so many strong relationships with our staff and families, this is a great next step for her and for Bower Hill."
Carfano comes to the position with plenty of experience. Prior to her time in Peters Township, she was a third grade teacher at the Chartiers Valley School District. Additionally, she was the English and Language Arts curriculum leader.
Before that, she was with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for five years. While there she worked with school districts around the county where she designed and expedited professional development. Additionally she was a Hopewell Area School District teacher for six years.
The newly promoted educator received her own post-secondary education from the California University of Pennsylvania, which was followed by a master’s as a reading specialist and finally an administrative principal certification.
